Reading is the way to discovering the world. When you can read, you can be anyone, discover anything, and learn everything!
My 45 students are eight and nine years old.
Some of them are special education students with learning or behavior disorders, while some of my students are general education students that are quite bright. I also have 8 gifted students. They attend an elementary school that holds over 1,200 third, fourth, and fifth grade students. My students are kind and get the most wonderful compliments from other adults in the community ("Your class cheers one another on instead of competing with one another, " our music teacher informed me.)
I teach math, science, and social studies, but most of my class loves reading. They want to read about what I am teaching them. I want to fill their craving for reading with books that will reinforce what I am teaching. My special needs students can read on lower levels and love to be read to! I want to have books to read to them as well as books that they can read on their own.
My Project
We need 15 children's books on math topics and one leveled math book to assist with my instruction. Your donation will allow my students to hear and read about math topics that are in the third grade standards. It will also supply me with instructional materials for three different levels of learners (much like my classroom). My students will be able to use these books to help build their knowledge of graphing, fractions, money, multiplication, measurement, and so much more. Your donation will give my students knowledge!
This project means a lot to me because I know how much my students love books.
I want to teach students, but more than that I want to create lifelong learners within each of my precious students. With this project I know that my students' needs will be better met and that their minds will be full of wonderful information about math!
