My Students

A typical day in our room is filled with learning, laughter, and love. We are a diverse community of all races, ability levels, ethnic backgrounds, and personalities, but there is at least one thing we all have in common: our love for learning.

My students come from an urban public elementary school in Wisconsin.

They come from diverse homes and bring many different perspectives and ideas to the classroom. They also have a wide range of abilities and talents, which makes our classroom unique. They are a lively bunch of fifth graders, most of whom have been with each other since kindergarten. They are a great community of kids who love to learn new things and share their great ideas with each other.

My Project

A lot of my students' favorite subject is math - yeah! About a third of my students come from low-income homes and/or families who speak another language, and so most of these students don't have a lot of resources available to them. I am hoping to continue this love for math if they have proper resources to use.

These items will help my classroom tremendously by providing a reliable pencil sharpener to keep their pencils (the only writing utensil that is math-approved!) sharp and math-ready, a classroom set of calculators that any student without one can use, and sets of drawers to keep their math items safe and organized.
