Ms. Hall from Baltimore MD is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need materials such as Hot Dots Math Quiz Cards, Subtraction Tower of Math Game and Addition Tower of Math Game to support their understanding of number sense and their fluency with basic math facts.

My students have missed a tremendous amount of instructional time waiting to find the right special education program to meet their needs. They are now ready to learn, but sometimes lack the basic skills to tackle grade level material. Help me give my students a chance to make up for missed time!
My fourth graders are students with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities that attend a separate public special needs school in an urban, inner-city school district.
Sadly, many of my students have been bounced from one unsuccessful school environment to another, waiting to find the setting that can best fit their needs. Although my students have struggled in a general education environment, most my students are academically capable and excel in a small classroom environment focused on hands-on learning. Until attending our program, many of my students felt that they would never learn to read or write, let alone master advanced math concepts like algebra, fractions or elapsed time! Daily, my students prove that every child can become a successful learner, regardless of disability, emotional challenges, or economic status.
The materials funded through this project will allow my students to independently practice their basic facts during workshops and intervention periods. Due to the nature of their disabilities, my students require independent activities that hold their interest and are not writing intensive (as many of my students struggle to read and write). Hot Dots and board games will certainly make learning basic facts fun and will actively engage my students in meaningful independent learning during workshop time in my classroom. Additionally, manipulative-based learning is key for my students in order to develop their conceptual understanding of numbers. Materials such as the regrouping centers will benefit my students who are significantly below grade level and need focused, small group lessons to review fundamental calculation concepts. These materials will ensure that the last few months of the school year are just as fruitful as the first!
My students have grown a tremendous amount in math this year.
However, many of my students still lack the basics - such as fluency with addition and subtraction facts. Before moving onto 5th grade, I want my students to make the most of the last few months of school by increasing their automaticity with basic facts and number concepts! Help my students learn to decompose numbers, add and subtract with regrouping and learn their multiplication facts so they can succeed in middle school!
