Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine a classroom where students have the freedom to design their own learning projects from start to finish. Students in our STEM lab design, implement, reflect and share their projects using a variety of real-world STEM connected resources.
Our students thrive on technology and love when they have the opportunity to take our school's STEM class.
We pride ourselves on our diverse school community. We also have the honor of providing services for a number of military families in the community. Our school strives to create a safe learning environment where students can explore and grow.
My Project
My students need eight 3D MakerBot 3D Printing Filament Spools to continue to think, design, and create their own inventions! The MakerBot has already opened a whole new realm of possibilities in our classroom. Students who are working with design programs such as SketchUp and Autodesk Inventor are now be able to bring their inventions to life.
My goal is to give students the opportunity to use our STEM lab as a way of solving common problems in their everyday lives. Students will brainstorm common problems in small groups and then work to try and solve these problems. We'll build prototypes using our CAD software and print them out using the MakerBot. Students will even take their real-world experience to the next level by working with our media lab classes to create marketing materials for their inventions.
We're looking to change the way that students are learning in our STEM lab by creating an authentic learning environment that mirrors a real-world STEM career experience.
The MakerBot 3D printer is playing a vital role in our invention process. We want to offer our students the opportunity to become the next great inventor. We have the eager students and the right learning environment. All we need is you to help us continue this learning journey. Are you in?
