My Students

Help our stories come to life! We need props and kits to help our preschoolers learn to use their imaginations.

I teach Head Start Pre-school in a Midwestern public school system.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. They live in the inner-city and do not have many of the advantages that other students may have. Because Head Start is a federally funded program, most of the budget goes to pay for staff, basic supplies, and materials. It is the teacher's responsibility to provide any extra enrichment materials for the student's learning. I want my students to have every opportunity possible in their educational career.

My Project

I am requesting storytelling kits and read-along kits to help my students visualize the stories and help them come to life for them. Many of the stories are sequencing stories, which will help them with mathematics and early reading skills. The stories will also teach skills that they will use.

Young children often need help visualizing the stories they are listening to.

These storytelling kits will help them by giving them something to look at and to aid their imagination.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
