Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
History isn't what it use to be. We no longer have to wish for funding for trips to historical places, we can bring them to the students. Bringing the history alive makes it more relevant to them. Bring geography to them would allow them to see the places we discuss.
My student attend a high school that is faced with looming budget cuts.
It is an urban school with a high poverty population. It is in a school district that has been working on putting technology in the hands of science and math teachers, but have left the other subjects to find other ways to reach out to students who expect us to deliver technology filled lessons.
My Project
With the addition of a LCD projector my classroom will be one step closer to having a door to anywhere in the world. A projector will allow my students to see the sights of Washington DC without going there, something they cannot afford to dream of. An instant window to the Grand Canyon, the Pacific Islands, the Arctic Circle, or the hills of Kentucky will allow my students to see the geography and cultures we are studying, thus allowing them better comprehension and understanding.
I believe every child has the right to learn and to expect nothing less than our best.
This tool will open up the endless possibilities of showing the students places we could never take them physically. The possibility of viewing live footage or having distant learning opportunities would be instantly obtainable with a projector in the classroom.
