Mrs. Burns from Little Rock AR is requesting a classroom visitor through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need to have live theater performed at our school. The play, How the Camel Got His Hump, will be performed by the local children's Theater On Tour group.

"All the world is a stage." - William Shakespeare My students need the arts. Theater is such a wonderful real and engaging experience. The world is their stage and through this experience I hope to open their understanding of the world around them, and what is possible for them.
The students at my school are creative and dynamic individuals.
Every year we have a talent show and a variety of talents are represented. I have never seen any acting here though and I feel like it is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about a new art form that may have been unheard of to them before.
This theater experience will tie into all of the arts we are currently teaching. It will also open new avenues for cross curricular activities such as literature, reading, writing and art. Students will learn about the play before it comes by reading the book, then they will have discussions and create art, and finally they will see it all come together in a real and live way.
My students do not get to see theater very often if at all.
Having this experience will be exciting to them, it will engage their interests and open up a whole new world of make-believe to them. My students will be more culturally aware after this performance, they will get to see a glimpse into a world that is different than their own. My hope is for this play to inspire students to put drama and theater in their own lives, by acting themselves, making puppets or going to the theater.
