"I never teach my pupils. I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn." -Albert Einstein
I have been blessed with 22 curious, eager, and hard working kindergarteners.
Our school is a magnet school in an urban setting where over 60 percent of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. My students come from diverse backgrounds, economic situations, and family dynamics. Half of my class come from homes where English is not their first language and many are not exposed to the English language outside of the school setting. However, my students come to school each and every day ready to learn, work hard and actively participate in all subject areas. Simply put, they enjoy the wonders of learning!
My Project
To make my classroom more eco-friendly while engaging, I decided to waste less paper and use less worksheets. Instead, I have been creating learning center activities that my kindergarteners have been able to use independently and in small groups. All of my materials are laminated for repeated use. To be able to continue our eco-friendly centers some of our basic supplies need to be restocked. We need laminating pouches to create more reusable activities and poly envelopes to store center materials. Our classroom needs printable labels, a label maker and labeling tape to identify the containers that store our center materials, games, manipulatives and activities. My students will also need more glue sticks for those center activities that require cutting and pasting throughout the school year.
Your donations to this project will not only help us to continue learning, but also practice new skills in ways that allow us to conserve resources such as paper.
The labels will also add to our print rich environment. Thank you for considering our project to continue building an eco-friendly learning environment.
