Literature, laptops & learning! What a combination! As an ELA teacher, literature is part of our curriculum. Without a doubt, technology has brought changes to reading. Aya Karpinska shared "so what we think about reading & writing is not the same today as what we thought it was five years ago."
I am currently a 5th grade teacher at a Pre K-5th grade school, which has a wonderful parental support system.
Our school has almost 550 students at this time. My students are eager to learn and work hard. I truly enjoy teaching them. I work with ELA courses for my 5th graders. Our teachers and students are active in utilizing technology in our classrooms daily.
The requested computer would also be used for many things to enhance student growth. It would also assist my students with reading intervention to lessen gaps in student learning.
My Project
As dedicated educators with a focus on literature, reading, writing & technology, our teachers know the importance of recognizing individual student needs. Technology is part of our school's vision. As new technologies emerge annually, we're working to gain new equipment to enhance learning. As an educator, I know the importance of technology in the classroom. Each year, it becomes more and more evident how critical computers are in a classroom. Just the basics here includes reading programs and testing such as iReady, AR, Star and state testing. These programs help us review evidence to spotlight student growth. As an ELA teacher, computers also help by assisting my students for testing comprehension and skills. In my classroom, I go further with technology and have students that are engaged in ELA lessons with research, writing and language arts that target skills and broaden higher order thinking skills, all of which would foster reading growth in our students.
Without a doubt, technology has brought changes to literature.
Online author Aya Karpinska shared recently, "The text is an essential component, but I focus on what you can do on a computer that you can't do with paper," she says, "so what we think about reading and writing is not the same today as what we thought it was five years ago." Please help the students in my classroom. Your consideration in bringing a laptop to enhance literature and learning would be appreciated.
