Have you ever been convinced to go to a movie after seeing the movie trailer? I want to help the students in all three of the school libraries create book trailers to convince their peers to read a new adventure!
Our schools are located in a rural farming community.
There are about 1000 students with approximately 40% of the students qualifying for free and reduced price lunch. We are a very close community and really support each other. Students take pride in their education and have many opportunities to excel in music and sports.
My Project
The green screen will provide the perfect background for the movie labs that will be created in each library. Students will learn how to use different moving making apps on iPads after they have read a book. They will then need to write a script for a book trailer and turn it into a movie the iPad. The projects will allow students to collaborate with one another and engage in technological vocabulary! The green screens will motivate students to integrate reading, writing, and technology!
My students need need a green screen, iPad tripods, and action signs to make movie book trailers.
Because we live in a rural community, our resources are often limited.
It is our responsibility as educators to provide experiences in the classroom that students may not have access to at home. By creating a video lab in each library, students will be motivated to read because they know they will get to create a book trailer movie to promote their book. Their movie will then be a tool for me to use to motivate new readers. The cycle will continue! All the donors have to do is say, "Action!"
