Our school news anchors want to deliver the weekly happenings on our Knight TV News with style! Our current production area is small and our current set-up is minimal. We want to allow students to learn how to manage a school news program complete with a production studio.
Our elementary school is located in a rural area and serves approximately 520 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade.
We have approximately 10 students who work on the weekly news show. About 64% of our students receive free or reduced meals. The students are most eager to learn when hands-on or exploratory activities, such as our school news show, are presented. This equipment will be used by the news team and students who choose to work on media festival projects.
My Project
Our learners will use the production materials to add some pizazz to our current weekly news show. They will have the opportunity to share what they have learned with a real audience. The lighting and backdrops will give the show a professional feel, while students share the news for the week, book reviews, favorite poems, and vocabulary words during each show. The microphone will allow our viewers to hear voice-overs (to video clips and photo slideshows) that are clear and crisp.
The equipment for our school news show will give our students a feeling of pride and professionalism, when delivering the news to our school community.
This project will allow our children to have greater opportunities to make their learning visible in an exciting, creative, and engaging way.
