Lights, Camera and Action! You hear that often in terms of Hollywood. For me however, I would love to incorporate it in my classroom. I work with a team teacher who shares my interest. In her role as the tech coach, she will guide me with learning more about digital lessons with my students.
I am currently a 4th grade team teacher.
At this time, I teach ELA subjects at a PreK-5th grade school. My school has 535 students. We have tried very hard to move forward with technology since 2009 with various technology school campaigns. I believe technology integration is a "must" in classrooms. I am fortunate because our school leaders feel the same. Like me, my students are drawn toward creative technology projects & we would love to create powerful, curriculum based video projects. As the teacher, I'd love to incorporate more with filming & editing. However to accomplish this, I need to learn more about the filming and editing process myself. As the student, I would need to learn to video with the requested camera & laptop. Once I accomplish those goals for myself, I can then incorporate the same lessons with my students on this journey.
My Project
As teacher who loves technology, I know bringing resources such as a laptop, a video camera and equipment in my classroom, would enhance future digital lessons for my students. However, to implement video lessons with these resources, I must first be a student again and learn about these tools. In speaking with my school tech leader, we set up a lesson plan in terms of Professional Development. This includes meeting 3 times (1 to 1) with her. My personalized journey would include how to film & edit curriculum based lessons with the requested laptop & camera. In addition to sessions, my teacher gathered professional development articles to enhance my journey geared toward effective digital project based lessons in the future. I know once I've completed my own journey and in learning more, my students will also benefit!
I want to hear my students say, "Lights, Camera and Action" eventually.
However, I have a road to travel in terms of learning more about project based learning and Windows 8. At this time, you have the chance to help me as a teacher. In turn, it would also help my students. With my journey to learn more about digital tools, I can turn around and teach my students to do the same. Would you please consider helping me by funding a video camera and laptop for my technology based journey?
