My students need a plants and animals curriculum mastery game and an EcoSphere Closed Aquatic Ecosystem to learn about plant life, ecosystems and life cycles.
Ever hear a student say, "What do we need to learn this for?" Have you ever seen a teacher try to draw their best illustration of a ecosystem or life cycle on the board only to have more questions because it looks like a giant blob? This is what happens in our classroom during this science unit.
The students within my classroom come from many socioeconomic backgrounds.
We are an inner city school with very limited resources for the classroom and students. My students have different learning styles and needs throughout the day. Providing options for my students allows them to produce quality work and work to their full potential.
My Project
We have recently incorporated the science unit into our language arts and math units. This is helpful because it demonstrates to the students that all content areas are intertwined.
My students need a plants and animals curriculum mastery game and an EcoSphere Closed Aquatic Ecosystem to learn about plant life, ecosystems and life cycles. We currently lack any hands-on manipulatives to solidify the concept for each child. Having the games will be a great way for students to interact together and master a concept in a fun way. The ecosphere can sit in our science center for students to observe and take notes. It will teach them about life cycles and how are planet works on a smaller scale.
Donations towards this project will help bring science into the hands of my students.
They will have a real-life experience of watching a small ecosystem in the works. It will help them understand the life-cycle process as well as working as a group. Any donations will be greatly appreciated!
