A big part of our 4th grade classroom is reading. In addition, to our daily reading block, reading is incorporated into every other subject as well. Dr. Seuss says it best, "The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."
The students in my classroom have developed a passion for reading.
I have developed a reading community where students have the tools required to become successful readers. They are also working hard to become "Great Nevadans," which is part of our 4th grade Social Studies program. They are working on new Common Core State Standards to incorporate audio recordings into their presentations. My school supports the missions that I have established in my classroom, but more Nevada books, better book storage, and microphone headsets will help my students to grow in their passion for reading. My students would be so grateful for anyone supporting our project!
My Project
Through the past few years, I have acquired many amazing books and have organized them the best I can with the materials I have to work with. Now, however, we are in need of better organization. With the bookshelves, the students will be able to easily browse the library and find a just right book for them. Additionally, we currently do not have any trade books about Nevada in our classroom aside from our Social Studies Nevada textbooks. Getting these Nevada books will give a little more love to our library and allow the students to meet more Social Studies standards as they read about Nevada. Furthermore, with the microphone headsets, the students will be able to add audio easily to any presentations. This a resource our classroom is currently lacking, but will help with future Nevada presentations.
Having Nevada trade books, better library organization, and microphone headsets in our classroom will enhance the students' passion for reading.
Overall, all these resources will improve the learning environment in my classroom and bring smiles to many students' faces! :)
