This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I wish I understood what I am reading" are just a few words that come from my students mouths during self selected reading. How terrible it is to read a book, but not be able to enjoy what you are reading because you cannot comprehend the story.

I have a great group of students who are very excited about books.

We are a part of a wonderful Title 1 school where over ninety percent of our students receive free and reduced lunch. Many of our students begin school less prepared than their peers and do not have access to education resources outside of school. My students are very excited about school and are wanting to become better readers. In order to become better readers they need more books in their classroom library.

My Project

I am requesting new non fiction books that will help my students become better readers. Non fiction books will allow students to learn about other topics while also enhancing their reading abilities. These books are on different reading levels, this allows me to reach all of the needs of my students. There are also bins that will help me to keep my books organized which will make it easier on the students to find books that are just right for them.

My students are very excited about reading, I just hope I am able to provide them with new non fiction books for them to read.
