Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember how excited you were when you first learned how to jump rope or catch a ball? My students are excited to work on Coach John Wooden's character trait of "Fitness" but we have limited resources to do so and most of the equipment we do have is broken.

My students are all on free or reduced price lunch and receive assistance to get appropriate school clothing.

90% of the students in my classroom are English Language Learners. Many of the students have parents who have not earned high school diplomas and many who did not attend junior high. Many of my student's parents do not have the means to purchase fitness equipment, such as jump ropes and bikes, for themselves or their children

My Project

Fitness equipment for these students is crucial in helping them develop good healthy habits of exercising and a healthy life style. We need beanbags, cones, balls, hoops, and jump ropes, just to name a few items. This equipment will assist me in teaching them the appropriate techniques in a variety of fitness activities. In addition, it will allow access to all the children in the classroom this year and future school years. It will provide the students an opportunity to use and become excited about exercise.

Without these materials my students' access to fitness equipment is restricted.

These materials would enrich their experience and promote healthy habits. Please help my students have comparable fitness equipment to their peers.
