My Students

One of the best ways to learn is through experience. We're hoping to experience the cultures of the world by making connections through Skype. However, the computer speakers we have are barely audible throughout our classroom. We'd love to be able to hear the voices of children around the world.

We are a sixth grade class in rural Massachusetts.

Many of the students have had limited access to communities outside of our state. We'd love to be able to learn more about the classes, schools, and communities outside of our own to find out the similarities and differences between others and ourselves. These sixth graders are hard-working, eager, and determined and will take in so much from the materials that are provided. I'd love to be able to provide them with the materials that will provide them the best opportunities possible.

My Project

The coast of Australia. The beaches of Hawaii. The beautiful mountains of the Colorado Rockies. These are places many would love to travel to including us. However, our field trip funds probably wouldn't stretch that far. That doesn't mean that we can't still find a way to travel there, to communicate with the people who live in the area to find out more about the culture, the schools, and the communities in that area. The materials that we've requested will allow us to use Skype to connect with classes from around the globe. We currently have everything we need to Skype, however, our computer speakers are barely audible, making it difficult to hear the voices of those we'd like to talk to. Computer speakers will allow for all students to hear the words of children from around the world. Headsets will allow for individuals to more easily talk while we participate in such projects as Mystery Skyping. These resources will make our learning so much more meaningful.

This project will allow us to connect with classes from around the world.

We'd be able to break down the walls of the classroom, being able to travel the globe. What better way to learn about different cultures and geography than through connecting with classes from across the continents? We appreciate any help that you provide. Thank you!
