My students need hands-on science materials to make learning science REAL! We need prisms, magnets, simple machines and other basic hands-on science materials!
Learning science can be tough for any student, but for my special needs students, it is especially challenging. Magnets, prisms, simple machines, life cycle manipulatives and other materials will allow for a hands on experience that makes science real, fun, and meaningful!
I teach the best students in the world!
Our school is a public school that serves the most severely and profoundly disabled students in our county. We have just over 100 students, aged 3 to 21, who function developmentally from Toddler to the 2nd Grade level.
I teach middle school science to students, aged 10 to 14. My students are varied. Some have autism and others have physical, intellectual and/or emotional disabilities. Still, ALL OF MY KIDS love learning and particularly love learning science because it teaches them about themselves, the world around them, and how things work!
My Project
My students require hands-on-learning opportunities. It is essential to have materials that take abstract concepts and simplify these concepts into something that can be easily understood.
It is very important to bring science to life with concrete, hands-on manipulatives that my students can view, touch, and maneuver. These types of materials make science real and something my students can more easily relate to and understand. Funding the purchase of science manipulatives (such as magnets, simple machines, prisms, etc.) will help make science comprehensible for my kids. Please consider giving us science materials we can touch and observe first-hand. These items will help bring science concepts to life! We really need your help!
