This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Play is the most important part of teaching in Pre-K. My student need to build, explore, and create. We use LEGOS every day! We have a very old set of LEGOS that is missing pieces, but it is one of the first centers picked at choice time. I want to provide my students with new, exciting LEGOS.
My students are from low-income households with limited resources.
Their community is falling apart, drug-ridden, and full of abandoned buildings. Their school is Title I, with more than 85% of students living below the poverty line. Many of my students' parents have no more than a middle school education. The classrooms are overcrowded and limited resources are available. My pre-kindergarteners are the youngest students in a large elementary school. They are full of energy and excited about learning.
My Project
This resources will be used every day by many future classes of students at our school. Pre-K students need to be able to build and explore. My students will love the LEGOS for years to come. They will use these materials every day at center time and at play time. LEGOS are durable materials that will last for a very long time.
Although it may seem like just play materials, Pre-K students learn by building and exploring.
I have so many students who would love to use these LEGOS. Please consider donating to my project to helping me to foster a love of learning at a young age.
