My students need the Lego Wedo kits and a variety of Lego tools to begin their programming skills. My students also need an EV3 Robot to participate in the Lego First League.
My students are full of imagination and creativity. They ask intriguing questions and are always wondering "how" and "why." They seek to make connections and make sense of the world around them.
Our school is in the beginning phase of transforming into a STEAM focus school.
We are going to implement Project Based Learning activities and explore the guiding questions that will inspire our students to think beyond the ordinary.
Our students are active and engaged.
Our students are seeking to build and learn collaborative teamwork skills.
Our students are risk takers.
Our students will implement the design process and reflect on their design to revise and make improvements.
My Project
Our students will use the Lego Wedo kits to begin exploring the way that Legos are used to create structures which are functional and simple machines to complete a specified task. Students will discover basic engineering concepts and skills for building structures which are able to sustain themselves.
Our students will use the variety of Legos to bring their designs to life as they create and explore the possibilities.
We will use the kits and materials in class, during our STEAM time, as well as with our extracurricular Junior First and First Lego League teams. Parents and volunteers will help to supervise and engage the students in a series of challenges which promote leadership, teamwork, collaboration, creative thinking and problem solving skills.
We currently have a very limited supply of basic Legos.
We are looking to expand our resources. We need to supply the children with necessary bricks for building as well as the structured kits which will guide our students through activities to spark their interest and skills with the engineering and design philosophy at the heart of the project.
Students will increase their leadership skills and sense of pride through participation in our Lego Lab.
