My students need the magnetic white boards and magnetic manipulatives. My students need to see the colorful magnetic planets on the new magnetic whiteboard.
I love my school. It is a wonderful warm, caring, and safe place for children to be, but it is a very old school. The buildings need maintenance, and the classrooms are worn and dated. For example, the whiteboard is scratched and not magnetized. It is an old, white, particle board, used for showers.
The students, that attend our school are wonderful.
They are full of energy. Like most kids, they like to play video and Internet games, and run around with their friends. When it is time for school, they are always ready and excited to learn something new. I want to maintain that excitement, by presenting my lessons with 21st century learning materials and techniques. An updated, clean, whiteboard alone would be a start, but being magnetic would totally thrill the kids! They would be able to come to the board, and touch the big spongy colorful pieces, such as the base ten blocks, and drag them around to the appropriate places. They will grasp the concept much faster, and visualize the clear picture without misunderstandings.
My Project
Students will be involved in a whole new learning experience with these colorful magnetic manipulatives, on the new magnetic whiteboard. Their faces will light up and will show excitement like never before. I teach science and math with high levels of participation in the lessons. When I call on a student to come up to the new whiteboard, they will experience the fun of dragging the new colorful item(s). No longer will I have to draw the item on the old, dirty, scratched up, non-magnetic shower board, or display the pictures under the document camera. They will be clearly engaged in learning the correct process of the frog's life cycle, with these new features. The planets will appeal to them as well. They will actually realize the size and shape, and see the colors of each planet, as they are seen in the sky.
The students will walk away with a better understanding of the lessons I provide with the magnetic manipulatives.
They will gain their knowledge with certainty and confidence in the subject. With very limited time for each lesson during the school day, having these items will make the lessons go faster, smoother, and will help me to present the objective in a clear, concise manner.
