My Students

Do you remember how hard it was to learn how to take notes while the teacher was instructing? My students need to learn how to find the most important information to record in their notes. We are also in need of a television to show videos to our large group of students.

My students come from a rural setting with over half the students receiving free or reduced lunch.

We are in a combined classroom (2 teachers and 50 students). They are a hardworking group of students that want to learn and succeed in the classroom setting. The students attend a K-5 school, so they are the leaders of the building. This also means that we are preparing them for the next school.

My Project

I am requesting a television to be used in our combined classroom. While one teacher is in front of the students leading the classroom, the second teacher will utilize the television to show the students how to take notes. This will encourage the students to stay on task and also learn what is important in a lesson. Teaching the students to take notes and summarize will prepare them for the next level of education. The TV would also be used to conduct small group lessons off to the side of the classroom and showcase some of their work. The television will also replace the 15+ year old television that is no longer functioning in the classroom.

The donation of the television will enable the students to really learn the art of taking notes.

We would also use the TV to showcase some of their work and also for small group instruction. This will impact the student's education and allow them to learn the skills needed to become independent thinkers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
