Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Pre-kindergarten students learn best through play. My students love to be engaged in centers where they learn cooperation, extend their vocabulary and incorporate new concepts taught into their play.
I have forty students who attend our voluntary pre-k program in either the morning or afternoon session.
We are a title one school in Florida. The majority of my students are ELL and need to be immersed in rich vocabulary through play, discussions and literature in order to be prepared for kindergarten.
My Project
We are a new program and are in need of additional materials for our dramatic play area. The dramatic play area changes with our literature themes so these materials are an extension of the lessons taught. The children will have the opportunity to use their new vocabulary as they role play in this center.
The brain craves novelty and I will be able to change out materials in the dramatic play area as our themes change.
The children will be excited to use the new materials each month as they will be able to practice the language skills they are being taught.
