My students need literacy centers and math centers such as Phonemic Awareness and Alphabet folder games and Making Ten, Measurement, and shapes instant learning centers.
Every morning we start off the day with our class quote which is by Dr. Seuss: You're off to great places, today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!!!
This is my eighth year as a pre-k teacher.
My students come in with various backgrounds but the one thing they all have in common is their love of learning. They are so excited to be at school!
I currently have 23 students in my classroom. All of our learning is through hands on activities as opposed to worksheets. Our learning takes place through whole group activities, small group work, and individual work jobs. Through these hands on activities, the students have shown tremendous growth from when they first entered school back in August.
My Project
My students need literacy centers and math centers such as Phonemic Awareness and Alphabet folder games and Making Ten, Measurement, and shapes instant learning centers. During individual work jobs I have 23 different work jobs going on at once. These jobs match the different ability levels of the students. Some of the jobs are ready-made jobs and the others are created by me. I need several more literacy and math related centers to keep students engaged and learning. When the students are able to interact with the material they seem to comprehend the different skills they are learning, a little better. These materials will allow the students to work independently on the different skills they are learning but will also serve as a tool I can use in small groups to help students who may be struggling with a certain skill.
Donations to this project will help my classroom by giving the students more hands on activities to help reinforce what they are learning in the classroom.
My students entered school with few phonemic awareness and phonics skills (rhyming, syllables, letter names, letters vs. words, etc.) but have gained so many of these skills. I truly think that comes from being able to actively manipulate that content.
