My students need the technology of the iPad Air 2 and the survivor case. These tools will help my wonderful students to facilitate their learning in all subject areas.
Everyone can learn and be successful if given the right motivation, learning strategies and tools. My classroom is set up to allow teaching whole group, small groups or working one on one. My biggest challenges are to help them reach their full potential and be able to express themselves clearly.
I have 14 4th-6th grade students in my Special Day class who have autism, learning disabilities and/or are intellectually challenged.
Although the class has three different grades, my students' ability levels vary quite a bit. I have a non-reader student to students who can read fluently, but have trouble comprehending what they read. Almost all my students can write a simple paragraph with help and guidance. My students are thrilled when they get to use the computer lab to work on different reading, vocabulary and math programs. They are more motivated to read and write when they can use a computer, laptop or iPad in the classroom.
Our school has over 700 students. The teachers welcome my students into their classroom.
My Project
I want each of my students to get a chance to use the iPad to facilitate their learning and learn how to properly research for information. The iPad would allow the students another tool to reinforce the skill they need to be more successful in the general education mainstreamed classrooms.
Recently, my students had to research a topic of their choice and then write a paragraph. Then, they had to give an oral presentation. I cannot believe how excited they were to do this activity and they want to do another project. The addition of an iPad would allow them more access to technology and Internet research. When they are not researching, there are websites that they can use to watch videos on science and social studies.
The survivor case will protect the iPad from getting damaged.
The iPad would allow my students more access to information on topics they want to research.
The iPad will help motivate them to want to learn more. The programs, games, and videos allow the students to receive instant input and the visuals they need. Using the iPad is another type of learning strategy that will help my students to succeed.
