Can you see it? You can't miss it! Imagine a Leaping Limeade jumping off the screen of an iPad Mini. The iPad would allow the Imagination of my students run wild while actively engaged with a small collaborative group. I am asking for one more to maximize our small group opportunities.
I teach at a rural school with a free and reduced lunch population above 50% and our funding for instructional supplies was cut by 75%.
As a school, we use every resource to offer students opportunities to participate in 21st century learning. However, we often have students that are challenging to motivate in school, and many of them have limited access to engaging technology outside the classroom. As teachers, we are constantly collaborating to create new, fun, and exciting lessons to get students engaged in the learning process.
I love facilitating collaborative projects with my fourth grade students and surround them with 21st century skills using iPads. Many of the students come to school and soak up any information presented to them. These students are creative and inquisitive and I hope to maximize these traits. I hope to instill the love of learning new information, read books by new authors, and create innovative projects that involve iPad.
My Project
One more iPad will greatly enhance productivity, engagement and enjoyment into every lesson. The iPad will be a key component for filming their final culminating projects for our Greek Mythology unit as well as our Holidays Around the World. The iPad will enhance our literacy stations that will allow students to use reading, writing, and vocabulary apps and work in very small groups. The iPad will hold iBooks, educational apps for fast finishers, vocabulary skill practice apps, tutorial applications that will help students catch up on skills. My goal is to prepare a variety of learning experiences that will provide exposure to all subjects by utilizing technology. The iPad will provide students with access to the most up-to-date information in all subject areas. I want to make learning fun and meaningful in my classroom so that their excitement and desire for learning continues and helps mold them into lifelong learners.
I strongly believe that one more iPad will create very small cooperative groups that will help to engage the students and create an active learning community.
It will help open students' eyes to all the possibilities of new technology. iPads are mobile, lightweight, and kid-friendly. Especially with budget cuts and class sizes increasing, classroom space is limited and iPads are perfect for the 21st Century classroom!
