Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"How do I help my child to learn to read?" "What books should my child read?" Parents often wonder how to work with their own child. They need hands-on systems to work with their child, like LeapFrog Tag Reading Systems.

My students are culturally diverse students from a low-socioeconomic area in Southern California.

They come from homes where they live with single parents, grandparents, foster parents or two parents. Some of my students come from homes where English is a second language.

My Project

Many of my students don't have books at home, or any books at their own level. I am requesting 3 LeapFrog Tag Reading Systems, 3 cases, and 9 storybooks. Students will be able to take these LeapFrog Tag Reading Systems home weekly to practice reading with their families. These systems are sequential, so students will practice reading skills at their own level. When they have mastered one level, they will then take home the next level. These materials will help my students build their reading skills and become successful readers.

With budget cuts to education, our district is cutting back on sending "paper books" home with students to practice reading at home.

These LeapFrog Tag Reading Systems will help support my students' learning by having books at their level to practice reading at home.
