My Students

It's the trip of a lifetime that's already going to cost a small fortune. However, all of the hard work and fundraising will pay off when my students are at their leadership workshop in Orlando, FL. Such an amazing experience needs to be remembered and shared with others which is why we need a camera.

My students are student council members which are made up of male and female students from grades 9-12.

They are the leaders of their classes and a great group of kids. The students all come from different socioeconomic backgrounds. They all live a rural area, Johnson County, which has little cultural experiences. Few step outside the bounds of East Tennessee and would otherwise not be able to travel and take such a trip unless they were not a part of the student council.

My Project

Our big project is to be able to take the entire student council from Upper East Tennessee to Orlando, Florida to attend a Disney Youth Education Series Leadership Workshop at Disney World. This workshop allows my students to work in groups and as individuals with key Disney staff members to develop leadership and team building skills. The workshop is aligned with national education standards and is a remarkable opportunity. They will spend three days with this educational leadership training. The resource we are greatly in need of is a digital camera to capture our experiences while we are at the workshop. The pictures will be used as a part of a summary presentation once the students return to school to share with peers and administrators. The pictures will also serve as a priceless reminder of their experiences that they can always treasure.

This project opens doors for students that they would otherwise never have.

The resource of a camera that we are requesting will take one burden off of the students as they raise the high funds needed to get to the Disney Youth Education Series Leadership Workshop. The camera will be a constant reminder of their hard work and provide evidence of their experience to share with others, and, using their learned leadership and team building skills, change the environment at their school.
