I am an ELA 5th grade teacher at our elementary school.
My current school has about 544 students. I teach two ELA sections. Our Pre K-5th grade school is one of the feeder schools in town. This will be our 3rd year using Common Core and we are all striving to move forward with our wonderful students. My students are eager to learn. All of our teachers are active in utilizing technology in our classrooms.
My Project
As a teacher, I have tried hard to provide technology-rich lessons with my students. I truly believe this statement Bill Gates has shared, "…Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important." With that said, please know that I am a teacher who loves using technology in my classroom. However for obvious reasons, purchasing technology is not always in the budget of school systems. I have had some computers crash on me in the past years. Some could not be replaced. So, the purchase of a new computer would be beneficial to us. With this new computer, my students could engage in richer technology ELA-based lessons. It would also help with RTI (Response to Intervention), Intervention, as well as other subjects. The internet offers so many free activities for our students. I know having a new computer would help them continue to engage in meaningful lessons to help them reach their potential in my classroom!

More often than not however, additional money isn't available for the extra technology. So, I am asking your help in bringing a laptop and mouse to my students. The interactivity of this resource would work in conjunction with my Promethean Board and could help enhance powerful deliveries with ELA lessons. Remember the cost of a laptop is $972.
