Laptop lessons in a speech classroom could benefit my students in many ways. As a Speech teacher, I have seen articles on speech links correlated with computers. With recording apps, students could utilize those by recording themselves in private settings to improve their speech habits.
I am currently a speech teacher at an elementary prekindergarten through fifth school with close to 550 students.
I service 42 awesome students in several grade levels, as well as preschool students. I work with both IEP and RTI students. The community where I work focuses on our children.
My Project
As a speech teacher, I am always working to find productive and new ideas. With a new laptop in my classroom, my students work with speech and audio apps with the computer. I have been researching sites to help my students. Many of those could help my students. There are many audio and speech programs on the sites. One link that that has promise lies with free eBooks with recording options. The students could actually read the story while recording their voices and then they could listen to their own recording immediately to hear it. I could use the laptop and mouse in centers, as well as in whole groups. We would love to have a new Windows 10 laptop and mouse.
Six favorite Online Speech Therapy Websites that I could use are Story Place, PBS kids: Between the Lions, Fun Brain, Scholastic, Articulation Games (by Tracy Gefroh Boyd), and The Tongue Twister Database. I know of a few audio story links and some audio recording programs, as well.
I know a new laptop could truly be an asset to my speech classes.
