My students need a laptop computer to give presentations with, write lessons on, and stay organized.

My Students

The computer I have in my classroom constantly crashes. It is very difficult to teach without a properly functioning computer. I need to use my computer everyday to write lessons, research topics and store grades. I also would like to start giving PowerPoint presentations with my new laptop!

I work in a public school in California.

My district is dealing with some major budget cuts and I fear my students will feel the pain next year. Our class sizes are increasing and we have less money for school supplies. My students are all exceptionally bright, well behaved and they love to learn. Many of them are immigrants and more than half of the school is very low income. My students work very hard and they deserve the best education possible!

My Project

If you buy this laptop for my class, it will make a major impact on my student's lives. I use a computer everyday, and when I have easy access to the Internet I am able to find lessons and ideas that really improve my teaching. I plan on creating PowerPoint presentations to show to my class, which will engage and excite them. With this laptop I will also be able to go online and project what is on my computer to my class, which means that I can show them how to properly use the internet. Teachers today cannot function in their profession without a computer. I am constantly emailing parents and other school personnel, creating worksheets, researching topics and next year I will also be working on my National Board Certification, which means writing a lot of papers. I need this computer to function in my day to day role as a teacher.

This computer will help me to be organized and work efficiently.

I will be able to take my computer with me to meetings and professional development seminars as well as work from home. My students' experience in my classroom is totally dependent on me. When I am prepared and everything is running smooth on my end, my class goes great. When I can't get my computer to work and I feel stressed, my kids feel that and it interferes with their learning. A new laptop will make a huge difference.
