My students needs GAMES! We need a laminator and film to continue creating games and activities for our Title I students ranging in age from Pre-K to 5th Grade.
Life is not a worksheet!! Life involves activity! Elementary students need play! If an activity involves play, they are more likely to learn from the activity, remember it, and apply it to other learning.
We are a Title I campus and many of our students do not have access to educational activities or materials outside of school.
In order to teach these students independence and the skills needed for life, they need to learn in a fun and exciting way….and worksheets are NOT the answer! A laminator would enable the students to learn in a fun and exciting way. It would enable students to play, invent, create, build, and practice. Our students are the next generation of doctors, police officers, firemen, lawyers, and doctors. These activities and games would allow students to engage in the skills necessary to be competitive in the future world, no matter their socioeconomic status.
My Project
The laminated activities and games will be infused into the daily classroom during all subject areas, including Literacy Stations and Guided Math. In this day and age of resourcefulness, the laminator would enable the students to practice without wasting. The students can use dry-erase markers to write, play, and generate ideas. They can create books that can be re-read by other students. They can play games to practice their thinking skills. They can plan the architecture of a building…and erase and start again when they realize that they need to re-plan!
This laminator will enable the 550 students of my Elementary School in Grand Prairie, Texas to become independent thinkers, team players, and resourceful citizens of Texas, the United States of America, and planet Earth.
These students will be the future of our world and they deserve the best teaching, activities, and games!
