Doing science is always more fun and valuable than just hearing about science! Please help us get these basic supplies for our chemistry lab so that we can use them for a wide variety of experiments and hands on learning.
My students are a truly diverse mix.
Some black, some brown, some white. Some of them have only recently started speaking English. Others have parents who are English professors. Most are low-income like the west side neighborhood that our school is located in. But others commute over from a wealthier neighborhood because they've heard great things about our school. Our school is a public charter school that focuses on science. Some students come here because they are inspired to aim for the international science fair, others pick up a beaker for the first time when they come to our school. All of them are great.
My Project
We have a nice new lab but are missing some basic supplies. We need thermometers, thermometer stands, and heat resistant gloves that will be used for all sorts of investigations like finding the amount of energy in a peanut, exploring rates of reactions, making biodiesel, drawing solubility curves, and much more. We need scoops for measuring out chemicals and droppers for adding liquids in labs like: make a battery, determine the blood type, and investigate ionic reactions. We also need gloves to protect our hands and flask scrubbers to clean up when we're done.
By funding this project you will directly benefit a lot of students.
Students will not just learn about science, they will DO science and become scientists. These are basic lab supplies that will be used in so many different ways over the course of the year. Thank you for helping us!
