My students need 8 trays of watercolors/brushes, 6 bottles of tempera paints, 3 microscopes, 2 sets of slides, 2 critical-thinking classroom activity books, 1 chess board game, 10 Time magazines, 1 water quality test kit, 1 container of pH test paper, and 1 liquid measurement set.

I am a 4th grade gifted education teacher in a critical-needs school district with limited money and supplies. Gifted education is an area that is not funded so resources are scarce in our area.

I constantly strive to advance my intellectually-gifted students beyond the regular education curriculum. This is a VERY difficult task for me when money is limited and supplies are scarce. My students need to develop these higher-level thinking skills through investigations and explorations but can not do so without needed resources/supplies.

I want to do more hands-on experiments with my students to engage their minds and to teach them to "think about their own thinking." Microscopes and slides will be a valuable asset to our classroom discussions and learning processes. The watercolors and tempera paints will encourage creativity and imagination in my students and allow them to express themselves. The chess set will enable my students to use their intellect to compete in a "battle of the wits". The 2 critical-thinking activity books, Time magazine subscription, math game, and water testing supplies will allow my gifted students to soar to new heights through exploration and realize that there are no boundaries in acquiring new knowledge EVERYDAY.

I would really appreciate your help and support in contributing to creating life-long learners for our future generation. Your help will make it possible for my students to reach their full potential in a fun, creative classroom environment. I will be able to aid my students in independent, self-discovery through group explorations using the needed supplies and resources. These resources are much needed and your help would be GREATLY appreciated!
