Do not confine your children to your own learning, for they were born in another time.--Chinese Proverb. Children are diverse, as is their learning styles. It's important that I give them opportunities to learn in ways that will be meaningful, especially to this day and age.
I teach a lively group of first graders.
They love to be at school and are excited to learn. They see the world in a wonderful way. The majority of my students are being raised in poverty and come from at-risk homes. They all want to be loved, respected, and feel like they belong. I create an atmosphere that does just that.
My Project
These Kindle Fires/cases will be used in all aspects of the classroom. Students will use them to research things. They can read books on them. We will use them to connect with other classes both here in the US and abroad. We will use apps on them that assist with reading, math, social studies, science, etc... The world will be at their finer tips...with my guidance. The possibilities are endless. These Kindles will teach my 1st graders 21 century skills that are essential for learning in 2014-2015.
The majority of my students come from homes that do not have technology available.
This will put the world at their fingertips. They will learn skills and lessons that will help them to be successful in life.
