Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"You're off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So... get on your way!", Dr. Seuss said. My students are ready to leap into reading, and go to great places.

I have 24 enthusiastic students in my Kindergarten class.

They are English Language Learners and come from a community that is located in a low socioeconomic area. Most of them begin the school year unprepared, and lack basic school readiness skills. Now that it is the middle of the year, a majority of my students know the alphabet and are beginning to sound out words and read. It is very rewarding to see them grow at this time. With the help of LeapFrog Tag Readers, they will continue to develop their reading comprehension.

My Project

Our classroom needs LeapFrog Tag Readers to help them develop their reading skills. During small group instruction, students may independently read books in our classroom library. They enjoy looking at the pictures. They do their best to find familiar sight words, but using the Tag Readers to help guide them through the stories will help improve reading strategies.

My students are not just learning to read in Kindergarten, they are struggling with learning to read, speak, and comprehend the English Language.

This first year of school will have an incredible impact and will hopefully lead them on the road to great places.
