Every day my students enter the classroom with an abundance of energy, full of questions, and ready to learn.
We are a full day integrated kindergarten class of fifteen inquisitive students. My students enjoy singing, dancing, building and creating as they work together and explore with friends while learning about literacy, math, science and social studies. They are working as a team as they support each other in their learning and celebrate their many accomplishments.
My students have an everlasting passion for learning about the world around them and deserve every opportunity to foster that passion. They are our future. They deserve the wonderful technology opportunities and experiences that their peers across the country are having. Unfortunately, due to extreme budget cuts in our town, funding for advancement in technology has been frozen. Even spending on basic supplies has been frozen. What has NOT been frozen is the desire these children have for learning.
My Project
The six Chromebook computers with mice and head sets will be used to enhance student learning across the curriculum. With the use of these Chromebooks, my students will be able to learn through technology in small groups as they engage in hands-on interactive learning activities in math, social studies, science, music, art, and literacy.
With this new technology, my students will be able to access books and read stories online that are geared toward each student's reading level. They will also be able to record their readings and share their accomplishments in class. The Chromebooks would allow them to apply basic math and science concepts through the introduction of basic coding skills. They would allow my students to interact physically and visually as they learn about the world around them and develop STEM skills as they prepare for a future full of endless possibilities.
My students enter kindergarten at various stages of learning and differentiating instruction to meet their needs is vital to their success.
Providing my students with opportunities to learn through small group instruction with the use of these Chromebooks will allow me to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of my students. The Chromebooks are child friendly and easy to navigate. My students will build their confidence and gain independence as they experience learning at their own rate.
