"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies...the man who never reads lives only one." ~George R.R.Martin.
By allowing my children to listen to stories on their iPads I am giving my entire class the opportunity to live thousands of lives.
My children are a very diverse group with a large range of academic and social abilities.
While this group is currently in Kindergarten, we will all be moving on to First Grade together. This group is very cooperative, always willing to help one another complete a task. Our school has a very interesting dynamic, including a diverse population coming from a large range of socioeconomic statuses.
My Project
My students will use the headphones to assist them in listening to stories and work on educational apps using their iPads. Many of my students read independently but they enjoy listening to stories being read by adults on YouTube. They will use the drawers to safely and neatly store the headphones to prolong the life of the headphones.
Using headphones allows my children to independently choose the stories they listen to during "Listen to Reading" time.
By using drawers to organize the headphones, they will be able to independently get their headphones without having to worry about them being tangled up with other students' headphones. This will increase their independence and the amount of time they can spend learning.
