My students have vigor and zest! They astound me every year with their ability to bring music to life! My students get one hour a week to work on any given music project. They work so hard and push themselves for musical excellence. As a school that focuses almost solely on musical programs, my students have such limited time to prepare for their shows, and never cease to amaze me or their audience with their hard work.
With a school of nearly twelve hundred students (and climbing), and me teaching all of them, it is important for me to be able to provide these students with the musical enrichment they may not have at any other time in life.
Music is special to them; it is special to our entire community! Music, and the creation thereof, bridges gaps that can influence a child's life and education throughout their life. Our county has not been able to keep up with our growth, financially. Our students need your help to enrich their musical experience!
My Project
Technology is the newest and coolest instrument! The sixty kids that walk through my door every half hour will have the opportunity through stations and in groups, to create their own compositions with the iPad Airs. By using the Garage Band app, children will be able to be the creators of their own symphony!
Imagine your child coming home and telling you that he or she created and played their own composition for their class!
Through the use of the Apple TV, the classes will be able to share with their peers immediately. This is a wonderful alternative to performing for students that may be more introverted. This way, they can create, and perform and listen to their own music with their peers. I am looking forward to using this technology to expand my teaching goals and incorporate more composition and creativity into my music room.
