There are many benefits of living in an exciting city such as NYC. But there are a lot of things my students miss out on. Did you ever get to hold a baby chick in your hands? This simple experience can truly open the eyes of my students to farm and animal life. Help our kids witness this miracle!
Welcome to Pre-K!
Come on in! We ask that you be respectful to those around you as well as the materials you play with. Language isn't an issue here, we're confident you'll pick it up quickly. We learn through play and exploration so you're required to bring your curiosity and imagination. Have fun!
Our kids are young, ambitious, and curious but there's darkness lurking about that's much too serious. Pre-k is a time to explore and play, to imagine and create until the end of the day.
But the trouble that's looming seems to be blooming. Academic rigor! Academic rigor! They're telling us to grow up much much quicker. They want to prepare us to be college ready, we want to go to college, but at a pace that's steady.
Our parents can't help us of the troubles that's lurking, it's not their fault! They're too busy working!

My Project
With an incubator and a brooder, my students will be able to get a first hand experience of animal life specifically chickens! Watching chicks hatch and learning about what they need and how to take care of them will truly change my students outlook on animal life. Our school is located in the city and we have little access to farm life. My students have little exposure to farm and animal life and having an incubator and a brooder will allow them to experience it! Our class will be able to learn about the life cycle of a chicken, the importance of chicks/chickens, and how to take care of chicks. The class will be able to watch the chicks grow and develop. They'll be able to hold chicks in their hand without ever leaving the classroom!
This is an experience most children in our school will not experience unless teachers go out of their way to bring that experience to them.
Our pre-k kids are very young. There is so much to see in our beautiful world. As they grow older, that opportunity diminishes as there are more academic expectations placed on them and standards to be met. I want to expose my students to as much wonderful things as possible before they're expected to grow up too fast.
