Keeping our eyes focused on technology is an ongoing task for me as an educator. Without a doubt, more powerful technology resources are on the horizon annually. New computers with more memory and a larger hard drive would prove beneficial for my class. A new Windows 10 laptop would be helpful.
I am currently a 3rd-grade team teacher at a Pre K- fifth-grade school.
Our school has more than 500 students. We have a close-knit community, and the parental support here is truly admirable. Each year our school offers technology campaigns to help our school gain technology resources. I believe technology integration is an asset to the curriculum. We, as a school, are fortunate that our students have truly embraced technology resources and love working with all of our resources.
My Project
My classroom is in need of a new laptop and mouse. With the 2014 upgrades from XP to Windows 7, my student XP computers slowed down tremendously. I know having a new faster computer with more memory as well as a larger hard drive would benefit my students with ongoing interactive and project-based learning lessons. A combination of the technology resources has helped me create effective hands-on interactive lessons for my students. Simply stated, if we had a computer with more memory, it would alleviate many of our issues. The Windows 10 computer I'd like has more memory that would allow movement without freezing while the lessons are taking place. My students and I are interested in learning more about project based learning which would mesh many subjects and lessons. One example would be researching and writing about specific topics. Another would be reading online books. With a school camera, we could choose topics, take pictures and write stories about the photos taken by the students.
