Keep Kindergarten Fun and Engaging with Authentic Learning!
My students need to develop a sense of community importance through dramatic play. They need magna-tiles, brick building table, tub of cars and trucks, community people, community signs, word building puzzles and a carpet to build their community.
Do you remember when you were in Kindergarten and you learned through playing? We need to make Kindergarten an authentic learning environment again instead of a place to complete paperwork!
I am Kindergarten teacher in a low income community.
There is a high percentage of children that receive free breakfast/lunch. My school is a K-2 school that always goes over and beyond to ensure the children feel loved and are learning at their full potential. Finances do not always allow for all of the needed materials. Some classes tend to rely on paper and pencil learning, but children need to learn through play. Dramatic play teaches children through authentic experiences and allows for strong social skills!
My Project
The materials I am requesting will help the children develop a sense of community importance and learn appropriate social skills. I just purchased unit blocks and would like the children to have street signs, community people, and a carpet of the community to fully engage in play. There's also a need for a Lego table to create a permanent center. Lego building involves so many different skills.
Donations to my project will create a developmentally appropriate Kindergarten where children will love coming to school and learning!
Children need to move and talk to learn! Let's make school fun!
