My Students

Do you remember those long weeks of school culminating in state tests? My students will use this book to solidify a year's worth of study while reading something fun and easily manageable.

My students are smart, creative, and learning to be great Innovators.

By reading this book, they'll be finishing their year off in a strong and productive way. They attend a charter school focused on STEM skills. They are seventh grade students gearing up for the summer, and beyond that, the eighth grade.

My Project

By reading these books, my students will gain a more solid understanding of Greek mythology which will help them in all their future Language Arts classes. They will also practice fiction skills that will carry over into their later years. Reading is a skill that must always be practiced and the best way to practice it is through the use of novels, particularly novels that are part of a series.

Exposure is a key element to student success.

The more variety of texts students use, the more they are able to apply necessary skills such as making inferences, summarizing, predicting and finding the main idea of a text, to a variety of texts. This allows reading to become a more involuntary skill. Students will be ingrained with the skills that make them a good reader. They will not view it as a skill only applicable for school life, but will instead understand its real world applications.
