Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I always tell my students to give me more and make their work "juicy". I need to continue to exhilarate this expectation by implementing technology that will lead students to the future. By bringing the world to my students, I will be able to help my little people build a connection.
My first grade students consist of a diverse population set of students from all cultures and origins.
Likewise, I also serve students that are gifted learners that consist of a wide range of intelligences and social and emotional needs. My students are always eager to know why and how things happen. My students always need to be challenged and to think critically in order to help them build creative and problem-solving skills. My students acquire a deeper understanding of all concepts beyond the general education curriculum. Therefore, I infuse the general education curriculum while also infusing the advanced academics curriculum in order to help my students achieve their own individual goal(s). As an educator of gifted students, additional resources are always infused in my lesson as well as supplemental materials are required in order to meet the demands of my students' education.
My Project
My classroom resources consist of four student computers and one teacher computer. Students utilize the four computers through small group rotation. The purpose of the iPad is to help me enhance my teaching style during small and whole group instruction. Implementing the iPad will help me work with students in small groups while utilizing online resources, like sight word game apps, in order to help students enhance their reading and mathematical skills. Similarly, students will be able to utilize the iPad to view videos and pictures that will help them grasp core academic skills. Likewise, I will be able to teach students how to utilize technology in a responsible manner as well as teach my students computer skills that will help them meet curriculum, state, and national standards. The iPad will also provide resources that are student friendly and orientated to maintain students' focus and engaged in the lesson.
The donations of this project will help customize my students' education through hands-on learning.
Students will be able to take virtual field trips that would otherwise be limited due to financial situations. The iPad will enable students to open up the world right at their fingertips in order to explore the impossible. "The principal goal of education is to create individuals who are capable of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other generations have done."-Jean Piaget
