Creativity and critical thinking, combined with individual student needs are what is at the heart of my teaching and learning. iPads are a superior digit tool that enhance and brings to life education for all students.
My students here at O Elementary, are an amazing group of fourth graders.
This is a traditional classroom of 28 students, which includes the fourth grade-gifted cluster. Within my classroom, I have a wide range of individual needs that I must address. It is my responsibility to guide my students to reach their fullest potential, challenging their individual development, whether they are below, at, or above their grade level. It is important for their learning environment to be intriguing, supportive, and motivating for all my students. Even though there is wide learning diversity among themselves, they demonstrate a deep sense of community and caring on a daily basis. Many of my students are eager to devour new knowledge. This excitement for learning is amazing to witness and I am honored to work with these fourth graders each day.
My Project
When I envision my classroom using iPads, many exciting possibilities come to mind. I would like to use iPads for standards-based research project that requires groups of students to utilize the iPad to develop a visual presentation. Students could then exchange iPads to evaluate their peers' projects. iPads are an exciting tool that can be used as a video camera, audio recorder or notebooks of individual student creations. Another way I would like to implement iPads in the class, is by being able to access digital writing resources. With many of our computer labs being used for assessment, at the district and statewide level, we often do not get to explore digital writing resources that are available for kids. Students will be able to interact via blogs, writing journals, and online reading resources. I strongly believe that these iPads are the way of the future for enhances my students' educational experiences.
I am hopeful to see my students engaged and learning in a digital environment that reflects the world in which they are growing up.
The iPads would provide student-centered learning experiences and enhance our strong sense of classroom community. My students' needs for engaging and motivational educational experiences would easily be met with the use of the iPad.
