Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Integrate technology into my resource room! My students need the opportunity to work with technology in school, while at the same time developing strong inquiry research and collaborative learning skills. Provide an additional outlet for students that are struggling!
My students live in an urban, low-income city comprised largely of immigrant families.
Many of my students speak a language other than English at home. Despite the challenges that they face, the students in my school are consistently eager to learn and enthusiastic about new and exciting learning opportunities.
The majority of my students do not have computers and access to the Internet at home, and so they eagerly embrace opportunities to utilize technology at school. Unfortunately in an overcrowded school, students do not have many opportunities to use technology independently or even in small groups.
My Project
I am asking for 2 iPad mini's for my resource room. My students have very limited access and experience with technology. With the use of this medium, students will have opportunities they would otherwise not have: learning in a way that they feel is "playing" and not "working".
With the use of iPad mini's I will be able to download applications to reinforce concepts taught and needed for mastery. Running a resource room, this will help my students to understand concepts in a unique way, which they may otherwise not have the opportunity to do, while also learning basic technology skills. The purpose of the iPad mini's will be targeted at struggling learners' success in reading, writing, and math.
