My students need iPads to gain access, for more than 2 students at a time, to the high quality applications that are only available through this mode of technology.

My Students

There is so much technology out there. That's the problem, so much out there, not enough in our classroom. The technology we do have does not have the ability to access some of the educational and engaging applications that are available. Even so there isn't enough to go around.

Our student body is very diverse.

We educate children of military members, International Baccalaureate students, AVID students, students of all levels of learning, hearing impaired students, students from many walks of life, Special Education students, physically challenged students, however the majority of the students have one thing that pulls them all together; they come from economically disadvantaged homes. Our school works hard to promote learning across the board. Our students have risen to meet these demands. The one thing they have asked of us is to not stand there and just lecture to them. They ask that we make the lessons entertaining as well as educational. That we use the technology that they will be using in the workplace later, in lessons now.

My Project

Having the technology in the room to grab and holding their attention is wonderful. iPads have the amazing capability to draw students in. It is not only another modality to capture student attention and engage them in learning, but it is technology that is being used in the workforce today. The iPad allows students to take a hands-on approach in that they can manipulate information. The Apple TV will allow us to share with the entire class at once. Having the technology at our disposal, instantly, will make lessons more meaningful and transitions run smooth. All of this impacts the students education and prepares them for the workforce through their comfort of use of the technology.
