My Students

Tablet technology is revolutionizing the business world. The "App" explosion has created a resurgence of entrepreneurship. Students in this program will be using the iPad to create a business plan for the creation of a viable app for the marketplace.

The students in the class are both male and female, who are in grades 10 - 12.

This is a multi-cultural class comprised of students from all socioeconomic backgrounds. This school is a suburban high school in New York State where approximately 50% of the students are on a free or reduced lunch program. This school district has experienced reduced state aid over the last 7 years,resulting in budget short falls. Consequently, the lack of funds has adversely affected the availability of resources we are able to provide to our students.

My Project

A class set of either Sony tablets will enable students to learn how to use the latest technology and software programs that are being used in the business world. Students will acquire skills in iWorks and other productivity tools. Additionally, students will explore "App" entrepreneurship, and will use the iPads to explore and create a marketable app and marketing plan.

In today's competitive job market, it is critical that our students learn current computer skills.

Moreover, they must also learn to think entrepreneurial--where they can identify a viable opportunity to create a business. Students will learn the entrepreneurial process by applying the business concepts learned to create an "App" business plan.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
