My students are from families of varying socioeconomic levels and are grouped by mixed ability levels.
My school consists of grades 4-6, is comprised of approximately 900 students and is located in a rural area of south central Pennsylvania. The technology resources in our school are limited, with only three student computers per classroom.
My Project
As part of my efforts to improve the differentiation of my instruction, I would like to include a technology center as part of a rotation in my classroom. Specifically I would like to utilize the Socrative Application on the iPads. I currently have a teacher iPad, however without some student iPads the Socrative App is virtually useless. This application allows students to respond to assessment questions created by the teacher, and submit them electronically for teacher evaluation. Through use of this Application I will be able to assess student progress on a daily basis.
Donations to this project will transform my classroom into one in which current technology can be used daily.
The iPads will also provide less fortunate students the opportunities to utilize the latest technologies and not fall behind their more fortunate peers. The use of the iPads will improve my students' lives by catering to the different learning styles present in a mixed ability classroom of 27 students!
