My students need this iPad to quickly view video of themselves performing a skill so that they can better understand how to improve. Also to try many of the new PE apps.
Each week nearly 500 students pass through my doors during my physical education classes. As we work on fitness, play games, and practice motor skills I try and reach each student during every class. Taking advantage of new technology will help me reach those that need a new way of understanding.
Our school is one of three elementary schools in the city of Dover, NH.
Our school has an enrollment of nearly 500 kindergarten through 4th graders. Students come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Our school and student body is a close knit family in which working together and perseverance are preached daily. Students are encouraged to think independently while caring about each other and their work. Garrison students strive to do their best on a daily basis.
My Project
With this iPad I will be able to try out new technology that exist for PE programs. I will be able to take advantage of new planning applications that will help to make better use of time during our short, 45 minute classes. Students will be able to use the video apps. to see themselves performing a skill and better understand what they need to do to make improvements. I will also use the iPad in conjunction with a school projector to provide large group activities like "Just Dance" during rainy day recesses held in the gym.
I am looking forward to having this iPad that can be strictly devoted to my class activities.
I know that by giving the students the opportunity to see themselves in action they will be better able to make improvements in their skills. At this time I am not fully aware of the potential that new apps. for PE classes are able to provide but look forward to learning and experiencing them with my students.
